How to update your payment method

If your card expired, was replaced, or you just want to switch to a different card, you can update your payment method in a couple of clicks.

Step-by-step

  1. Log in to The Invest Nest.

  2. Go to Settings (top-right menu or side nav).

  3. Click the Billing tab.

  4. Click Edit Payment Method.

  5. You'll be redirected to a secure billing portal hosted by Stripe (our payment processor). The URL will start with billing.stripe.com.

  6. Add your new card, set it as the default, and remove the old card if you'd like.

  7. Close the tab when done. Changes save automatically.

That's it. Your next charge will go to the new card.

Why does it open a separate page?

We use Stripe's hosted billing portal so your card details never touch our servers. This keeps your payment info safer and reduces our security and compliance footprint. The page looks slightly different because it's Stripe's UI, but it's still tied to your account.

What to do if your card got declined

If a payment fails (expired card, insufficient funds, fraud block, etc.), here's what happens:

  1. Stripe automatically retries the charge a few times over the next few days.

  2. While retries are running, your account may show inconsistent access. This is a known timing quirk.

  3. If all retries fail, your subscription is cancelled and you'll drop to the Free plan.

To prevent this, update your card before the next billing date if you know your current card has issues.

If your account dropped to Free because of a failed charge and you want to come back, just go to Settings → Billing → View Subscription and re-subscribe.

Where to see your invoices and past charges

The Stripe billing portal also has your full invoice history. From the portal you can:

  • Download PDF invoices

  • See all past charges and refunds

  • Update billing email and address
