Welcome to the HYROX Youth Journey

HYROX is more than a race — it’s a journey of confidence, fitness, and personal growth.

The HYROX Youth Programmes (ages 8–15) are designed to introduce children to functional fitness and hybrid racing in a way that is safe, structured, progressive, and fun. Whether a child is stepping into HYROX for the very first time or building toward competitive youth events, this pathway supports them at every stage.

Across all age groups, children can expect sessions that are:

  • age-appropriate and engaging

  • clearly structured and easy to understand

  • focused on movement quality, confidence, and enjoyment

  • progressive, without being overwhelming

Every programme follows a simple weekly rhythm that helps children feel familiar, capable, and motivated as they grow.

Ages 8–9: Discover & Enjoy

At this stage, the focus is on exploration and enjoyment.

  • Learning how to run, jump, push, pull, carry, and throw safely

  • Building confidence through games, short efforts, and simple circuits

  • Developing coordination, balance, and basic strength

Sessions are playful and positive, helping children associate movement with fun and success.

Ages 10–11: Build Confidence & Skill

As children grow, sessions introduce more structure while keeping things enjoyable.

  • Longer running and simple HYROX-style stations

  • Learning how to pace, recover, and repeat efforts

  • Gaining confidence linking movements together

Children begin to understand what HYROX feels like, while still prioritising enjoyment and safety.

Ages 12–13: Train with Purpose

At this stage, training becomes more intentional.

  • Clear session types (intervals, ladders, flow, race segments)

  • Exposure to all HYROX Youth movements

  • Gradual preparation for a full HYROX Youth event

Children learn how to train, not just exercise — developing discipline, resilience, and confidence.

Ages 14–15: Prepare to Perform

The oldest youth group trains with a clear goal in mind: race readiness.

  • Longer runs and engine work

  • Structured race simulations and sharpening weeks

  • Learning how to manage effort, nerves, and competition

By this stage, young athletes feel capable, prepared, and excited to perform at HYROX Youth events.

Why This Programme Is Different

These programmes have been created jointly by Team Hogan and The Lousa Way, bringing together two of the most accomplished coaching platforms and some of the most experienced coaches in the Hyrox space:

Together, this collaboration ensures the programmes are:

  • grounded in real HYROX experience

  • aligned with long-term youth development principles

  • structured to build confidence first, performance second

  • consistent across age groups, so progression feels natural

This is not rushed training.

This is not adult programming scaled down.

It is a purpose-built youth HYROX pathway, designed to help children succeed now and in the future.

The Best Start a Child Can Have in HYROX

Starting HYROX through a structured youth programme matters.

By following this pathway, children:

  • learn correct movement patterns early

  • build confidence before pressure

  • understand pacing, recovery, and effort

  • develop a positive relationship with training

  • arrive at competitions feeling prepared, not anxious

Most importantly, they learn that HYROX is something they belong in.

Whether a child’s goal is to race, to stay active, or simply to enjoy moving with friends, this programme gives them the best possible foundation for their HYROX journey.
