The drill diagram library can be used to add further context and visuals to your session plans. They can be created, shared and copied between your staff and easily attached to your activities within your session plans.
Drill Diagram Builder
You can build your diagrams in advance to attaching them within the session plan using the Diagram link from your coaching section of Sports Office.
Click 'Add Diagram' to begin.
Categorising your Diagram
The first part is to title the diagram and assign it to Teams and Activity Types within your organisation. (This will become very important when trying to find the diagram in the session builder)
The activity types are the same as the activity types used in the Coaching session builder and are configured in System > Performance.
You can further categorise your drill diagrams by creating Drill Groups. Drill groups are created in System > Performance.
Minimum participants, Maximum participants and Description are optional fields for the user to use if they see fit. The description does show on Session plans so can be useful.
PLEASE NOTE: The bottom option on this page allows you to attach a file as an alternative to using the diagram builder. this is particularly useful if you have diagrams from another source on your hard drive and you would like to transfer them on to Sports Office. Simply select your file from your CPU and click 'Add Diagram' and that file can now be attached to session plans.
If you do not attach a file, once you click 'Add diagram' you will be redirected to the Diagram Builder page
Drill Diagram Builder
Click 'Change Background' to drop down a variety of backgrounds on the system > select the one you would like to use and click the same button to collapse
You will now see the 'Item' panel which has the various icons you can use on the diagram. Click one to select it and double click on the diagram background to place that item. You can continue to double click to add more and more of the same item or you can select another item from the panel and repeat.
Items can be moved by single click and drag of the item from the pitch.
If you simply single click on an item, it highlights that to allow further editing. The customisation you can do depends upon the item you select. For example, a shirt icon can be changed size or orientation whereas with a shape icon, you alter the size, border colour, fill and transparency.
You can delete or copy an item by single clicking it ans using the respective option from underneath the diagram building tool.
Further underneath the diagram, you can see the categorisation settings you completed on the previous page. From here you can edit before using the save option at the very bottom.
PLEASE NOTE: The save option keeps you on the diagram build page and should be used quite often as to not risk losing any unsaved work. There is an automatic log out of the Sports Office of 45 mins so it is always worth regularly saving.
Attaching Diagrams to Session Plans
You may need to refer to 'Adding a Coaching Session' if you are unsure on any terminology within this article.
When adding an activity to a session plan, you will see an option to select a drill diagram. This now opens the Diagram library to search for the diagram in question (this is where the categorisation becomes important).
Select the activity type where your diagram is stored
You will now be presented with any diagram in that activity type that are assigned to the team you are working with (This includes other coaches diagrams)
The diagrams you have created appear at the top of this list highlighted in a different colour followed by the other diagrams within this activity type
Select the diagram you would like to use. You can view a thumbnail example by hovering over the icon below:
Once you are happy, you can save the session and move to the Session Plan to see the print friendly version of the session and any diagrams attached.
