Sports Office allow each organisation to create their own Player Reviewing templates to enable 2-way feedback between staff and player.
To access Player Reviews you will need the Coaching Access user role. To access the Player Review configuration area in System, you will need the Performance Administrator user role. Please see your Club Administrator / Superuser for help with this.
We have 2 different types of Review templates that can be customised:
Development Reports / Performance Reviews
Linked Reviews
1. Development Reports / Performance Reviews (Must be configured in System)
Record 2 way feedback between coach and player
Allow players to initiate the review
Hide certain fields from the player within a review
Lock a review to stop any further updates
2. Linked reviews (Must be configured in System)
Work in a similar way to Performance Reviews with one main addition in where you can have certain Review fields that show across multiple Review Templates. The user can complete a review field in one Review Type and see it in another.
Configuration / Set-up of Player Reviews/Linked Reviews
Development Reports / Performance Reviews
All configuration is done via System > Performance > Development Reports
The basic steps are shown in the diagram below and we will take you through these steps now:
To create your Review Types, click add a Development Report Type. You can add numerous types of review templates on the system.
Example: You can set up templates for an Individual Performance Plan template along with a Season Review, a 6 Week Review, a Nutrition review etc.
Now the user has created all relevant field categories, the categories need to be designed to be applied to the new fields. This is done by selecting the “Manage Fields” button towards the top of the page.
Additional Options when adding Report Types
Include fixture selector - Allows you to include a fixture picker that uses fixtures on the database
Show totals in report - Useful if you are using Radio Range fields in your review. You get to see the Category totals below each Review along with a total across reviews
Allow all users to edit - This allows other staff members and players to edit a review otherwise it is just the staff user who initiated it.
Archived - Allows you to archive the Review Type (no data is deleted, the review just becomes hidden)
Include Spider Chart - Allows you to view category Radio Range totals in a Spider Chart Diagram
Allow players to initiate - Allows players to initiate the Review Type from their interface.
The next step is to Create Field Categories. Categories are the sub-headers within a review template and are used to structure the layout.
Once you have categories on the system, you can now create your Review Fields. Review fields are the questions/statements that you would want your players and staff to complete. Below is an example of the difference between Categories and Fields
To add a new field, you will need to complete the following:
Name: The name of the field
Input Description: This acts as an information/key to help the user when inputting their review (For Example 0-3 = Poor performance, 4-6 = Average Performance, 7-9 = Good Performance, 11-12 = Excellence)
Category: Drop down list containing the aforementioned Field Categories (this is why categories need creating first)
Input Type: This drop down enables the user to select how they would like record their data. It gives the following options:
- Radio Buttons (Range) - e.g. 1 - 10
- Radio Buttons (Options) - e.g. Yes, No, Maybe
- Drop Down List (Selections)
- Checkboxes (Multiple selection)
- Number
- Text
- Traffic Light
- Traffic Light with text
- Information area - used to further present the user with a key or information
Input Range: If the input type is Radio Buttons (Range) then the highest and lowest number can be input to create the range.
Input Options: Here the user can list what options can be selected in order to answer a question or to record date. Information such as poor, average, good, excellent, world class can be edited in here. Please note the example above is how the text needs to be input into the field category.
Use for Target Statement: If the user would like a spider diagram to be created showing results, then this tick box needs to be ticked.
Educational Field: If this box is selected, it results in the information being visible to external education users.
Once all the relevant data has been input, the user will then need to click insert for the report field to be created.
Once you are happy that you have created the Fields to go in your Review, the final step is to add them to a Review Template. From the same page you add Review Templates > you should see an option to Modify Content
You can now “add” the Fields from the Available list on the right. If the order is out of sync, they can move the fields up and down the lost by pressing the arrows down the side on the field they want to move.
You will also notice that there are different options for the user to set. The options are as follows:
- Visible to the player - Players can see
- Allow the player to input - Players can input feedback on the field
- Allow staff to input - Staff can input feedback on the field
- Allow EEU to input - If you are using external users to access the player reviews, you may need this ON, however in 99% of cases this can be left NO (red)
To change these, the user needs to click on the yes or no depending on how they would like their report to work. Once all these have been selected then the report is built and ready to be used when needed.
2. Linked Reviews
The process of building your review templates are exactly the same as above. The only difference with linked review is in the configuration of the linked fields.
In System > Performance > Linked development reports > you will see a place to add a Linked Review Template.
You can now add multiple Review Types to this linked Template. You build the Report Types as you would in the steps for Development / Performance Reviews.
Once you have your Report Types all built and belonging to a Linked Template, you can now set up the Linked Fields.
Back in the Linked Review Template page > you should see a 'Modify Content' button > click this to see a list of all the fields in the database. If you now add a field that is in 1 of the Review Types you have built, this will become a linked Field
USE CASE EXAMPLE:
We have created a Linked Player Review Template.
Within this we have added 3 Report Types:
Player IPP
6 week Review
End of Season Review
In the Player IPP review there is a 'Season Goals' field. We would like that to complete that once at the start of the season but have the ability to see that Season Goal when we are added our 6 week reviews for the players.
