Every Mighty member has a member profile. Updating your profile is a great way to let the community get to know you!

Who has a member profile?

A member profile is automatically created for anyone who creates an account on The Mighty. If a member deletes their account, their profile is also deleted.

How do I find a member's profile?

Navigate to any member's profile by selecting their username or profile icon on their post, comment, or story. This will take you to their profile page.

How do I find my own profile?

While logged in, you can go to your own profile any time by selecting your profile icon in the top-right corner of your screen. On the mobile app, this will go directly to your profile. On web, this will open a drop-down menu; select "Profile" from the menu.

The Mighty page on web, showing the profile picture in the top-right selected with the menu open, and "Profile" highlighted.

What is in my member profile?

These sections appear on your profile by default

By default, you will see the following on your profile:

  • Avatar image. We will provide you with a default image, but you can always change it as you would like.

  • Display Name. If you haven't changed it, this will just match your username.

  • Username. This is the name unique to you on the site, and it's part of your URL.

  • Mighty Member since… This is the month and year you joined The Mighty. This can be lets you see when different members have joined The Mighty. You can choose to make this private in your Preferences

  • Mighty streak. This shows the number of days in a row you have visited The Mighty — make sure to log in to count the visit towards your streak! The streak is only visible to you.

  • Any Groups you are a Group Leader for. This helps other community members discover your group. (You can choose to make this section private in your Preferences)

The main content section has three major tabs at the top:

  • Activity: What you have posted, including comments, posts, or published stories you have authored on The Mighty. You can choose to make this section private in your Preferences.

  • Mentions: Posts and comments where you are tagged by other members. This section is visible only to you, meaning that other members visiting your profile will never see your Mentions section.

  • Following section, which shows topics you follow, Mighty groups you are a member of, Mighty members you follow, and Mighty members that follow you. This section is visible only to you, meaning that other members visiting your profile will never see what your Following section. You also will not be able to see the Following section for other Mighty members.

When you are on someone else’s member profile and you are logged in, you can also choose to Follow them or Direct Message them.

Activity

Click Activity to see anything you have posted on The Mighty as well as your mentions.

Under the section “What I’ve Posted,” it will show up to 3 items you have posted (can be comments, Posts, and Stories you have published on The Mighty). If you have more than 3 items, there will be a See More button.

When you click See More, it will show a feed of what you have posted on The Mighty. To make it easier to find past things you have posted on The Mighty, you can choose to sort the content from Oldest to Newest. By default, it is sorted Newest to Oldest.

You can also filter what you have posted by the type of content it is and reduce the feed to just show Stories, Posts, Comments, or Videos.

If you have been tagged on any Posts or Comments on The Mighty, they will appear under your Mentions section. This section is always private — it is only visible to you and does not appear on your public profile. So when other Mighty members visit your profile, they cannot see your Mentions section. You also will not be able to see the Mentions section of other members’ profiles.

The Following tab is only visible for your own profile. You can see what topics you follow, groups you are a member of, members you follow, and who follows you from this view. As a reminder, the topics you follow, groups you are a part of, and members you follow will determine what appears on your home feed.

You can also click on the topic and go to the topic page, where there will also be an option to unfollow the hashtag.

  • Groups: You will see up to two rows of Groups that you are a member of. If you have more groups, then there will be a See All button where you can view a list of groups you are a member of. From the three dots overflow menu, you can choose to unfollow (leave) the group. You can also click on the group to leave the group from the group page.

  • Members I Follow: You will see up to four avatars for members that you follow. If there are more members you follow, then there will be a See All button where you can view a list of members you follow. From here, you can choose to Follow members back (if you’re not already following them), Report the member to Mighty moderation, or Block the member (meaning you will not see their content on your home feed and they will not be able to direct message you). Members cannot see who has blocked them on The Mighty.

If any of the sections are empty, you can click the Explore button to see some of our biggest topics, groups, and most active members that you can choose to follow.

More sections can be added into your profile

We encourage you to add more information to your profile to help other Mighty members get to know you better.
