Connect the Google Ads integration to track your spend, ROI and campaign performance.

1.) Click the Connect button on the Google Ads section.

2.) A Google popup will appear and you will be asked to input your credentials to log in. It is important to remember to log into the Google account that you also use for Google Ads, otherwise an error will occur.

3.) After that, you will be asked to give ThoughtMetric permission to access your Google Ads account. It is very important that you click Allow on all permissions.

4.) After clicking Allow, you will then be redirected back to ThoughtMetric where a popup will ask which Google Ads account to connect.

5.) With that if you have successfully integrated with Google Ads it will now show that it has been Connected.

Connecting Multiple Google Ad Accounts

You can connect more than one Google Ad account to your ThoughtMetric account. To do this, follow the below steps.

1.) Navigate to the integrations page and click Configure on the Google Ad integration.

2.) You will be taken to a page that shows you all of the Google accounts that you currently have connected. Click the Connect New Account button to add a new account, or click the Disconnect buttons to remove old accounts.

Add Tracking Parameters to Your Ads

To enable the highest accuracy tracking of Google Ads follow this guide on how to place the ThoughtMetric tracking parameters on your Google Ads.

ThoughtMetric Google Ads tracking parameter:

{lpurl}?tmsrc=googlead&tmcid={campaignid}&tmsid={adgroupid}&tmid={creative}&tmkw={keyword}

1.) Copy the ThoughtMetric Tracking Parameter

2.) Navigate to the Account Settings Page of your Google Ads account and paste the tracking parameter into the "Tracking template" text box.

How to handle parameters that are already in the tracking template

If you already have some tracking parameters in the tracking template field, don't worry, you can use the ThoughtMetric tracking parameters in addition to any tracking you already have in place.

To use the ThoughtMetric parameters alongside your existing tracking template you will want to append our tracking parameters to the end of your existing UTM string by using a "&" symbol starting with the tmsrc parameter.

For example If you already had the following text in your tracking template:

{lpurl}?utm_source=google

You would want to append the ThoughtMetric tracking parameters so that the end result looks like this:

{lpurl}?utm_source=google&tmsrc=googlead&tmcid={campaignid}&tmsid={adgroupid}&tmid={creative}&tmkw={keyword}
