Details about the marketing channels that ThoughtMetric automatically tracks

ThoughtMetric automatically tracks most of the popular e-commerce marketing channels and tools. Below is a description of all of the channels that we track by default.

Google Ads

ThoughtMetric automatically tracks Google Ads. By default we are able to track if a customer has come to your store from a Google Ad. If you connect the Google ads integration, ThoughtMetric can also track and report on ad campaigns, ad spend, ROAS, and more.

Bing Ads

ThoughtMetric automatically tracks Bing Ads. By default we are able to track if a customer has come to your store from a Bing Ad.

Facebook Ads

ThoughtMetric automatically tracks Facebook Ads. By default we are able to track if a customer has come to your store from a Facebook Ad. If you connect the Facebook ads integration, ThoughtMetric can also track and report on ad campaigns, ad spend, ROAS, and more.

Pinterest Ads

ThoughtMetric automatically tracks Bing Ads. By default we are able to track if a customer has come to your store from a Bing Ad.

Email

ThoughtMetric automatically tracks Email campaigns from the following vendors:

  • Klaviyo

  • MailChimp

  • Privy

  • Hubspot

  • SendInBlue

  • Drip

  • Constant Contact

Campaigns that have 'email' as a utm parameter will also be automatically classified and bucketed into the default Email channel.

SMS

ThoughtMetric automatically tracks the SMS campaigns from the following vendors:

  • Klaviyo SMS

  • Attentive

  • Postscript

  • SMS Bump

  • Emotive

  • Click Send

Campaigns that have 'sms' or 'text' as a utm parameter will also be automatically classified and bucketed into the default SMS channel.

Referrals

ThoughtMetric automatically tracks the Referral campaigns.

We can intelligently identify and classify Referral campaigns coming from:

  • News Articles

  • Influencers

  • Reviews

  • Affiliates

  • Aggregators

  • And More...

As long as there is a referral code within the url or utm parameter ThoughtMetric will automatically classify it as a referral and bucket it as a segment in the default Referral channel.

Organic Social Media

ThoughtMetric automatically differentiates between a customer coming from organic social media and paid social media. From there we then bucket the customers coming from organic social media into the Default Channel called Organic Social Media.

We automatically track customers coming organically from all major social media platforms:

  • Facebook

  • Instagram

  • Twitter

  • Youtube

  • TikTok

  • LinkedIn

  • Yahoo

  • Linktree

  • Snapchat

  • Reddit

  • And More...

Organic Search

ThoughtMetric automatically differentiates between a customer coming from organic search and paid search.

We automatically track traffic from all major search engines including:

  • Google

  • Bing

  • Yahoo

  • Ask

  • Baidu

  • DuckDuckGo

  • Ecosia

  • Yandex

  • And More...

Direct Traffic

When a customer comes to your store by directly typing the url of your store into the url bar then ThoughtMetric will automatically classify and bucket it into the Default Channel called Direct Traffic.

Unsegmented Traffic

For customer sessions that cannot be put into any of the other default or custom channels then ThoughtMetric will automatically classify and bucket it in to the Default Channel called Unsegmented Traffic.
