ThoughtMetric collects data from your store by using a tracking pixel that is installed on your website. If this data connection is interrupted then ThoughtMetric will no longer be able to correctly track the performance of your marketing.
How do I know if I have this issue?
The best way to tell if you are having pixel data connection issues is to go to the main dashboard of metric and look at the Visits metric over the last week.
If you see a sharp drop off in visits then this indicates that the ThoughtMetric pixel is no longer sending data to your account.
What causes this issue and how do I fix it?
1.) The tracking pixel got accidentally removed from your site.
By far the most common cause for this issue is the ThoughtMetric tracking pixel getting accidentally removed from your site. This can happen if you updated or changed your theme and forgot to copy the ThoughtMetric pixel to your new site.
This can also happen if you are using WooCommerce and accidentally disabled or uninstalled the ThoughtMetric plugin.
To fix this issue, go through the ThoughtMetric Installation Guide again and make sure you have your pixel correctly installed.
2.) You initiated but didn't complete the server side tagging setup.
If you initiated the server side tagging setup by generating a custom tracking domain in your project settings, this could mess up your tracking pixel if the setup is not complete.
To fix this issue, go through the ThoughtMetric Server Side Tagging Setup Guide to make sure everything is set up correctly.
