How to make a data request (UK GDPR)

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you. Here's how to make a request, and what to expect.

Your data belongs to you. Under UK GDPR you have a few different rights, and we make it as straightforward as we can to use them.

How do I make a request?

Email dpo@thriva.co with:

  • The type of request (access, deletion, etc.)

  • Your full name and the email address on your Thriva account

  • Your date of birth and the postcode your kit was sent to (so we can verify it's you)

If you'd rather speak to us first, you can also email us at hello@thriva.co and we'll point you in the right direction.

How long does it take?

We respond to data requests within 30 days, in line with UK GDPR. Most are completed sooner. If a request is complex we may extend by up to two further months. We'll always let you know if that's the case and explain why.

Deleting your account

If you'd like to close your account and have your data deleted, we can do that for you. A few things to know:

  • Deletion is permanent. Once your historic results are removed, we can't get them back

  • If you have an active subscription, we'll cancel it before deleting

If you want to keep your historic results but don't want to receive any more test kits, you don't need a deletion request. You can cancel your subscription and unsubscribe from emails in your account settings.

If you still want to delete your own account, you can do this from your Thriva dashboard. Click on "Settings" and then click "Delete account".

If you select "Delete my account", we'll notify you that your account has been scheduled for deletion. Please note, this can't be undone.

As a CQC registered healthcare provider, we are required to keep a copy of your health record for audit purposes for a period of eight years. We treat your erasure request as an objection to further processing and your health record will be moved to a separate database where it is kept only for regulatory purposes and not further used by Thriva.

Marketing preferences

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, or by changing your preferences in your settings. This doesn't affect transactional emails (like results and order confirmations) — those are part of the service.
