How do driving conviction codes work?

When you get a driving conviction, the court can fine you and 'endorse' your driving record with penalty points. Endorsements stay on your driving record for four or 11 years, depending on the offence.

Each endorsement has a special code, referring to the type and severity of the offence. Not all endorsements mean a disqualification.
