Self Check-In turns your Box Office device into a check-in kiosk for attendees who already bought tickets online. Attendees can scan the QR code from their confirmation email or Apple Wallet, choose which tickets to check in, and automatically receive a wristband, ticket, or receipt. This section covers how to turn on Self Check-In, choose what prints, and what attendees see at the kiosk.
Warning: Self Check-In Mode is not available on Reserved Seating pages. This option is only available on Standard, Date-Based, and Series of Event pages.
Note: Box Office Self Check-In mode requires:
Box Office app version 1.8.0 or higher on an iPad or iPhone
A self-checkout app key. Self Check-In is not available on staff-operated app keys
An active internet connection. Self Check-In does not work offline

Choose What Prints After Check-In
After turning on the ability for attendees to self check-in, you can customize what prints after an attendee checks in.
Note: You must set the Self Check-In Output setting on every device you're using for self check-in.
Log in to the Box Office app. Click here to learn how
From the Welcome screen, tap Purchase
Tap the hamburger icon in the top left corner
Enter your app key password and tap Confirm
Select Settings
Under Printer Settings, tap Self Check-In Output
Select what you want to print after an attendee checks in
None: Attendees are checked in without printing anything
Wristband: Prints a wristband using your Boca printer
Ticket: Prints a hard stock ticket
Receipt: Prints a receipt using your Star Micronics printer
Note: If the printer runs into a problem during your event, the attendee is told to see your staff. Their check-in still counts, even if nothing printed.
Check In Using the Box Office App
Warning: Self Check-In does not check the ticket's date or time slot. Each ticket shows its date and time slot, but attendees can check in a ticket for a different date or time without seeing an error. If your event uses dates or time slots and entry timing matters, have staff review tickets at your entrance or use the Scanning App, which can warn you about wrong dates and times
Note: Attendees can't look up their order by name, email, or confirmation number at the self-service kiosk. They must scan the QR code on their ticket. If an attendee can't access their QR code, have staff help them using the Scanning App.
On the Welcome screen, tap Check In
Scan the QR code from the order confirmation email or Apple Wallet. Tap the camera flip icon to switch between the front and back camera, if needed
If there are multiple tickets on the order, view the tickets on the order. Tap the grid or list icon to change the view
Select the tickets to check in, or tap Select All in the upper right-hand corner
Tap Check In
Pro Tip: If an attendee taps Check In but still needs to buy tickets, they can tap Need Tickets? on the scan screen to go straight to the purchase flow
Note: Tickets are not checked in until the attendee taps Check In. If an attendee walks away partway through, the kiosk resets after a period of inactivity and none of their tickets are checked in.
Tap Continue
Take the printed wristband, ticket, or receipt (if your kiosk is set to print)
The kiosk shows a confirmation screen and returns to the Welcome screen after 10 seconds
Error Messages Attendees May See
If an attendee's ticket is not valid, they will not be able to be checked in, and the Box Office App will display an error. Here are the errors your attendees may see.
Order can't be checked in because it was canceled or refunded: The order has been canceled and is no longer active
Already checked in: The ticket was already checked in at the kiosk, with the Scanning App, or by staff
Waiver not signed: The ticket requires a waiver that hasn't been completed. The attendee must complete the waiver before checking in
No internet connection: The device is offline. Self Check-In requires an active internet connection
See staff (printer issue): The ticket was checked in, but the wristband, ticket, or receipt did not print
