Traffic Rules (Restrictions)

How to use Traffic Rules

Updated over a year ago

Traffic rules feature allows you to set restrictions and alerts for traffic.

With traffic rules you will be able to control your traffic by setting traffic limitation, accept only specific traffic based on free parameter or block it, setup night shift caps and more.

How to create a new Traffic rule?

Go to Menu-> Traffic Rules-> Press on the blue + to create a new rule.

A new select option will be opened, you will be able to choose to create a traffic rule by Template , or a custom rule by your own choice:

Block Traffic By Affiliate Budget: block traffic from your affiliates if their payout exceeded the limit you have set. For example:
For Affiliate X, If his payout is greater than 500 EUR Then block traffic.

By clicking on "Budget (Affiliate)" you will be able to set the conditions for your rule:

Block Traffic By Brand Budget: block traffic to your brands if their revenue exceeded the limit. for example:
For Brand Y, If his revenue is greater than 2500 EUR Then Block traffic.

Limit By Day/Night Shift: limit brands by working hours and/or cap.

If the lead will try to register and one of the conditions is not met - the lead will be blocked from registration.

For example:
For Brand X if Working hours are : 20:00 - 03:00 (+1) AND Leads lower then 20 then Allow Traffic (otherwise block). In case this lead will try to register and the daily cap have exceeded the amount you have set, which is 20, then the lead will be blocked from registration.

Free Params Routing: allow brands to get leads only if they come with specific free parameter value. For example:
For brand X , If free parameter MPC_2 includes facebook, Then allow the lead to enter (otherwise block the lead from entering to this brand)

By clicking on "free params" you will be able to set the conditions for your rule:

Build Your Own Traffic Rule: build a custom rule by your own conditions.

By clicking on "If" you can set your customised conditions:

Available Actions:

  • Allow (block everything else) : only if all the conditions you chose will happen, the lead will be able to register, otherwise the lead will be blocked.

  • Block: only if all the conditions you chose will happen, the lead will be blocked, otherwise the lead will be able to register.

After choosing your conditions in any type of rule click on "finish" and you will reach the final step in creating a traffic rule:

Afterwards clicking on "add rule" your rule is now set and ready.

In the main screen you can view all your rules, their conditions and the lead/FTD cap per a rule. You can make changes in an existing rule just by clicking on a rule, make changes and clicking "finish".

Please note that in addition to the default templates and build your own rule, you also have Premium Templates:

Alert about traffic type - you can choose traffic conditions for which you will get alerts. For example, you can get alerts if for brand X there have been more than 10 failures for the last hour.

This feature would prevent and help you with managing and optimising your traffic.

Alert about statistics - you can choose statistics conditions for which you will get alerts.

You can choose get notifications by CTL, CTR, CR OR EPL.

Alert about call status - with this feature you can get notifications regarding call status that didn't change for a certain period of time.

You can choose to get notifications per a certain brand or all brands:

Redirect Traffic to a box - this option allows you to redirect traffic to another box.

It will allow you to redirect traffic based on working days and free params to another box in you CRM. This will help you get traffic and utilise it at it best by not loosing traffic but sending it to another box.

Please note that our Premium Templates are an extra feature.

In order to purchase and use them please contact your account manager.

Traffic rule not working

In some cases you may see that a traffic rule is not working properly.

First of all, check the conditions you have set for this rule and make sure they are set accordingly for being able to work for the relevant lead.

For example, you have set this rule to work for affiliate X but you're getting leads from affiliate Y.

In other cases you will see in "leads" in brand response this kind of response:

"Blocked by condition: RuleID: X, freeParams. check your restrictions rules. Box (GI), Campaign id (CI), ai: X country: X"

In RuleID you would see the relevant rule ID that will help you indicate and locate the problem.

You will such a response for a lead that have tried to register to a campaign and couldn't due to the traffic rule that met the conditions, meaning that this lead was blocked from registration due the rule you have set.

In order to make this lead to register you need to check the conditions of the relevant rule you see in RuleID and make the necessary changes in order to let this lead register if you want it to.
