Now that you have your design, it’s time to plan your install! And you probably have a lot of questions about who, when, how much, etc. Here are Tilly’s answers to our customers’ most common install questions:
WHO WILL INSTALL?
This is the first and one of the most important decisions you’ll make in the install process. The three most common options are:
Do It Yourself
Hire A Contractor, OR
A Combination of 1 & 2
If you plan to DIY, please refer to your Tilly design package for installation instructions at the end.
If you plan to hire a contractor, Tilly can help provide some names in your area as well as a comprehensive Contractor Hiring Guide to support you through the process. You may request this through your designer or by reaching out to contact@tillydesign.com.
WHEN SHOULD I INSTALL?
Generally, as long as the ground is not frozen solid, hardscaping can take place at any time of the year. Planting on the other hand, requires a bit more nuance and should be done after your last freeze in the spring, or before the first freeze in the fall. This will give your plants the best chance of survival while they establish their roots.
HOW DO I ORDER PLANTS?
Tilly has an entire team dedicated to fulfilling your plant list and delivering them to your door! To learn more about these services or request an estimate, please email plants@tillydesign.com.
CAN I PHASE MY PLAN?
Yes! In fact most of our homeowners do. We recommend either breaking the yard into “outdoor rooms” and starting with those closest to the house, OR laying all your hardscape first, then filling in with plantings as time and budget allow.
