Live Lesson:

National Numeracy Day – 20th May

We’re delighted to share that we’re partnering with National Numeracy to deliver a special live lesson on 20th May, celebrating National Numeracy Day.

The session will be led by National Numeracy ambassador Rotimi Merriman-Johnson, alongside the TT Rock Stars team, and is designed to help learners build confidence with money and everyday maths in a fun, engaging way.

Live Lesson Details:

Date: 20th May | Time: 9:30–9:45 | Who: Open to all ages | Cost: Free

Your students will learn how to:

  • Make good choices with their money (even pocket money).

  • Spot when a deal isn’t as good as it looks.

  • Compare options and explain their thinking.

To bring these ideas to life, Rotimi and the TT Rock Stars team will host a live, interactive Would You Rather? game. Students will vote in real-time polls to choose the best value deals, helping them practise making smart spending decisions in a fun and memorable way.

Resource for National Numeracy Day:

As part of this year’s National Numeracy Day, we’re excited to share a brand-new free classroom resource from Times Tables Rock Stars. In line with the National Numeracy Community theme, this resource challenges students to think carefully about value for money by selecting the best deals to help build a new park for their local area.

What’s included:

We’ve created two differentiated resources to suit different year groups:

  • Lower KS2 resource

  • Upper KS2 resource

Each pack is designed for easy classroom use and includes:

  • A smartboard-ready presentation for whole-class teaching

  • A printable student worksheet for independent or group work

Learning focus:

Students will explore real-world numeracy skills by:

  • Comparing and selecting the best value deals;

  • Making decisions based on cost and benefit;

  • Applying maths skills to a real-life scenario.

This activity helps bring financial literacy to life in a meaningful and engaging way.

How to access:

  1. Click the link in the email sent to you from National Numeracy.
