Privacy settings - How student names are shown on leaderboards (NumBots)

Written by Tor Caldwell

In the Online games > Digital wellbeing area, you can control whether students can see the class, year group and whole-school leaderboards, including coin and star totals.

These leaderboards show Bot Names rather than students’ real names.

Changing your leaderboard settings

You can change your leaderboard settings at any time in Online games > Digital wellbeing > Privacy & leaderboards.

NumBots leaderboards are only visible within your school and are never public. You can choose whether students can see the class, year group and whole-school leaderboards, including coin and star totals.

Only Bot Names are displayed

NumBots leaderboards display Bot Names only - never real names, and this setting cannot be changed.

This means students can see how their class, year group and school are doing without their real names being displayed on the leaderboards.

What is a "Bot Name"?

When students first log in to NumBots, they choose a robot name known as a Bot Name. This has the dual purpose of adding some extra fun into the game, and keeping students anonymous as they will only know each others Bot Names if they choose to share them.

For example:

Real name: Joe Bloggs

Rock name: Dux Ironcepter
