Completing the Student Details table
Tip 1: If the Maths Class doesn't yet exist, just type in the class name in the Maths Class column. A new class will be created for you and the students dropped into it.
Tip 2: You can copy the student information from a spreadsheet and paste it into the Student Details table shown in the image above.
Adding Students In Bulk
This may sound terrifying but don't worry, it's as simple as copying and pasting from a spreadsheet.
⏱ Pro tip: save time by including several classes in one long list!
MAKE THE SPREADSHEET
Prepare a 4-column spreadsheet with the students' first name, surname, class and year group (grade). Download example spreadsheet
Include optional extra columns such as:
a) gender
b) pastoral class (AKA homeroom, form class, reg/tutor group)
c) username and passwordSee our Privacy Notice for more information about the data you need to provide and why.
Suggestion: give students the same usernames as the ones they use on other learning platforms so that they have fewer usernames to remember.
COPY THE SPREADSHEET
Copy the data in the spreadsheet by selecting the cells from the top left to the bottom right and pressing ctrl & c (Windows) or cmd & c (Mac). Make sure you've included the top row (column headings) too.
PASTE THE SPREADSHEET
Go to Account > Classes > Add > Upload CSV > Paste Data by pressing ctrl & v (Windows) or cmd & v (Mac). This will go smoothly so long as your spreadsheet is in good order.
You can also save the CSV and upload it to the select.csv file box.PRESS THE BLUE BUTTON (and kick back while we upload the students)
Follow the onscreen instructions as you scroll down and press the Upload button at the bottom.
All being well, that should have done it! You'll be told they've uploaded successfully and be given the chance to save the username labels and parent letters.
