This article applies to Managers and it will discuss the following topics:

Question to be answered! What people can you see here?

Pre-requisites

Step 1. Create a Skill group type in TinQwise Control > Groups > Types.

Step 2. Create a skill group in TinQwise Control > Groups. Choose the 'skill group' as a Group type. We advise creating one group per skill.

Step 3. You need to enable the Skill enrolment feature in Control > Settings > Features and specify the group type. Learners will be added to groups of this group type when enrolled to a skill.

📣 Make sure that the group type you specify in the feature settings and the group type in your structure are exactly the same.

Step 4. Configure two automations for each skill group: Unlock activity automation and Grand badge automation. These automations are necessary for the skill enrolment feature to work.

  1. Unlock activity automation

When a user is enrolled to a skill he will need access to the activities associated to the skill. To do this you need to create an automation that will unlock the relevant activities. By choosing the "Is group" condition, you give everyone in this skill group access to the underlying content of the skill.

  2. Grand badge automation

When a user completes the skill you want them to receive a badge. To do this you have to create an automation with Activity completion as the event. If you want only users in the skill group to receive this badge then you need to add two conditions: 'Is activity' (choose the activity (ies) associated with the skill) and 'Is group' (choose the skill group).

As an action, you choose Grant badge with the skill badge as reward and 'event -> user' as recipient source.

You are all set! Now you can use the skill enrolment feature.

Skill enrolment

Managers can enrol users to new skills through Growth platform > More > Reporting > Skills. Once there, you click on the desired skill(s) and on the 'No access' tab where you can find the Enrol team members button.

As a manager, you can enrol one or more team members, send a notification message to the user, and enrol a user in multiple skillsets at once.

Enrol a learner to a skill set

  • In the skill overview in in-app reporting, click 'Enrol team members'.

  • Select one or multiple team members, or enable 'Enrol all team members', which will enrol all people who have no access to the skill yet from the previous screen.

  • Under 'Pick a 'skill set', you will be able to select the skill group (in this case also called 'Air') that you just made and configured. Enrolling learners to this 'skill set' will add them to the skill group of the same name.

  • (Optional) You can choose to notify the learners of their new skills and modify the notification text.

  • Choose 'Enrol team members'.

  • The selected team members should now see their new skills in their Upskill page.

Unenrol a learner from a skill set

  • Go to Growth platform > More > Reporting > People and search for the user that you would like to unenrol from a skill or skill set.

  • Scroll all the way to the bottom of their user detail page.

  • Here you should see a list of all the skill sets they've been enrolled to.

  • Click 'unenrol' to remove the skill set (in this case 'Air'), and confirm.

  • The learner should no longer have access to the skill set.

Keep in mind that you can only unenrol users that are in the skill group you created. For example, let's say that the 'Air skill' is part of the Onboarding program for new employees so the users that are in the Onboarding program will have access to the skill. But then you will also like to give access to a few managers to this skill. To do that you create the skill group for the 'Air skill' as shown in this article. Now, you will only be able to unenrol the managers through their profile as shown below, but not the new employees.

Skill nudging

As a manager, you can nudge users to achieve skills that they already have access to by going in Growth platform > More > Reporting > Skills. Once there, you click on the desired skill(s) and on the 'Not completed' tab where you can find the Nudge team members button.

You can:

  • nudge one or more team members

  • send a notification message to the user

  • create a deadline for completion of the skill

The skill will automatically be added in the user's To do list and the deadline will be indicated if there is any.
