We often meet clients that wish to use Growth platform's fresh interface and fun learning formats, but are already committed to another learning management system. No worries! With LTI you can enjoy your platform functionalities without replacing your current learning solution for tracking progress.

What is LTI?

LTI stands for Learning Tool Interoperability. In essence it is a way to integrate our Growth platform into your own learning management system (LMS). We generate a LTI link and credentials to configure our Growth platform as a learning tool straight into your LMS. Your users can then enjoy the learning experience Growth platform offers from the LMS they are already used to.

What do users see when they open Growth platform via LTI?

Users are redirected to the discovery stream that is set up within Growth platform. From there they can open activities and journeys. Users don't have to login. They see the right content that is configured in Growth platform for that LTI integration.

Why would I choose for LTI?

When you don't need the LMS functionalities of Growth platform, such as user management, course management and reporting, but you do want to offer an optimal learning experience for your users using the Growth platform interface and formats. On top of that, it is a low-impact implementation.

Note: LTI cannot be used in combination with Growth platform or Growth platform Enterprise.

What user information is passed on to Growth platform?

Growth platform only collects the user ID as known in your own LMS together with the first and last name of the user. Depending on your LMS, email can also be passed on. Growth platform does NOT collect any other user data such as function or department via the LTI integration.

Note: within the LTI connection, content differentiation is very limited.

What data is reported back to the LMS or learning tool?

Completion rates of all content available within Growth platform for the target group are reported back as a score between 0 and 1. If the user has completed 50% of the activities, this will then be reported back as 0.5.

Are LTI integrations multilingual?

Yes, if your Growth platform and its learning content is translated into multiple languages, users can switch to different languages within the LTI.

Is a new LTI needed after a new version is released?

No, with a LTI integration, new versions of your Growth platform and new versions of content are available the moment they are published. That saves you the trouble of redistributing LTI links.

How many LTI integrations can I have per Growth platform?

You can have as many LTI integrations as you want. If you want to offer differentiated courses or learning programmes for different customers or departments within your organisation, you can create LTI links for each individual target group and enrol the right users to that LTI course in your learning management system.

What am I missing with LTI?

Remember that we always recommend having your own Growth platform. When using LTI you can't use reporting, differentiate content or notify users. Also, it's good to note that you're not able to create your own content or adjust it on the fly as the implementation of LTI is without access to the Content Builder and Control. If these functionalities are important to you, we suggest to have another think or talk about switching to Growth platform.

How does an LTI integration differ from a SCORM integration?

The user experience via a LTI integration is safer and smoother. Where SCORM integrations almost always open in a pop-up or a new window; with LTI the integration mostly navigates like a regular link. The communication between Growth platform and your LMS is also safe and encrypted. With SCORM integrations communication can be intercepted in the browser of the user.
