How does tl;dv decide whose bot joins the meeting?

Learn how tl;dv decides which bot joins your meeting when multiple users request a recording. Priority is based on pricing plan, meeting organizer, and other factors.

Updated yesterday

When multiple tl;dv users have auto-recording enabled, we use the following logic to decide whose bot will join:

  1. If only one user wants to record → Their bot joins.

  2. If multiple users want to record, we select based on:

    • Highest pricing plan (paid users take priority).

    • If multiple users are on the same plan → The meeting organizer (from the calendar invite) gets priority.

    • If the organizer isn’t a tl;dv user → We randomly pick a paying user.

    • If there are no paying users → The organizer is selected.

    • If the organizer isn’t a tl;dv user → We randomly pick one of the requesting users.

  3. If there are multiple meeting organizers (from different invites) → We randomly select one.

No matter what, all users who requested the recording will be listed as co-owners.

How can I make sure my bot joins the meeting?

  • If you’re the only one requesting a recording, your bot will join.

  • If multiple people request a recording, the selection follows the rules above.

  • f the wrong bot joins, you can always decline it when it tries to enter and then kickstart your own bot manually.

We know this process can be a bit hidden. If you ever need help, feel free to reach out! 😊
