Question
My set tax rate doesn't match the percentage of net sales taxed - how do I fix this?
β
Answer
If the percent of your taxed net sales doesn't match the tax rate you have set, this is likely because tax rates are set at the item level. Tax rates can be set at the group level, but these only affect items that are set to inherit the tax rate.
To check the tax rates on your items, follow these steps:
In Toast Web, navigate to Menus > Bulk management > Advanced properties.
Open the Show/Hide drop-down on the top-right corner of the page, and scroll down to the Taxes section.
SelectApplicable Taxes, Tax Inclusion Option, and Dining Option Tax to add those columns to the page. You may want to deselect other columns to make it easier to view the page.
You should now see the three tax-related settings columns on your Advanced Properties page. Use the arrow (>) icons on the left side of the page to expand menus to view menu groups and items, if necessary.
Use the drop-down menu to change a menu, menu group, or item's tax settings as desired. Menu groups and items will inherit settings from their parent unless otherwise configured.
Save and publish any changes.
