Score Verification, formerly known as Online Score Verification System (OSVS), helps you to verify currently valid TOEFL scores. This includes scores from all TOEFL iBT and Essentials scores delivery models.

Using Score Verification does not require the applicant to send scores directly from ETS to the institution.

When to Use Score Verification

Important: Score Verification provides a snapshot of TOEFL Scores at the exact moment you perform the check. In other words, this is a point-in-time verification, and you will not receive automatic updates for score changes or cancellations.

Use Score Verification for:

  • Quick preliminary checks during initial application review

  • Spot-checking applicant provided score information

Do NOT use Score Verification for:

  • Official score reports for final admission decisions

  • Cases requiring audit trails and institutional record keeping

  • Situations where you need to be notified of future score changes

While Score Verification may seem convenient for quick verifications and checks, using it instead of official score reporting channels can create significant risks and missed opportunities for your institution.

Using the Score Verification feature

Before you begin, you will need:

  1. Applicant Appointment Number

  2. Applicant Date of Birth

To access the Score Verification feature:

  • Log into TOEFL Access using your credentials.

  • Navigate to Score Verification by selecting the link from the sidebar menu.

  • Then, under Score Verification, add the Applicant Identifier and Date of Birth.

  • You can optionally add the MyBest Score Date as well.

  • Select Search to view the score report.

Verifiable Information

Information that can be verified on a score report includes the test taker’s full name, birthdate, test date, section test scores, total score, MyBest scores, test delivery type, and test taker photo.

Errors with Score Verification

At times you can encounter some errors with score verification. Here are some quick steps you can perform:

  • Confirm that the score is valid. TOEFL Scores remain valid for 2 years.

  • Validate that The MyBest Score Date must be the same as the date listed in the score report.

  • Ensure that the information entered, including the Appointment Number follows the proper 16-digit numeric number format and Date of Birth uses the MM/DD/YYYY format.
