Setting up the Scale

Set your scale before clicking

After opening a drawing sheet, Togal’s OCR technology (Optical Character Recognition) will automatically locate the scale written in the drawings.

However, the system does NOT test the correctness of the scale.

Therefore, you, as the user, have to always verify the accuracy of scale before proceeding with your takeoff.

How to confirm the auto detected scale:

  1. Find two points that have a known distance between them

  2. Select the Measure Tool

  3. To measure the distance between two points, click on the first point, then click on the second

  4. Confirm they match the measurement

How to set the scale manually:

  1. Click on the scale setting in the bottom left of the drawing canvas.

  2. Select "Set Scale Manually". There are two methods to set the scale manually.

Method 1: Draw Line method:

  1. Find two points that have a known distance between them

  2. Click on the first point, then click on the second

  3. Manually enter the distance between the points

  4. You may check the box to “Snap to standard scales”. This will convert the scale into the closest standard scale

  5. Finally, click "Save"

Method 2: Enter Number method:

  1. Directly enter the scale shown on the drawing

  2. Click “Save”

Method 3: Select No Scale Needed:

  1. Toggle from select scale manually

  2. click "No Scale Needed"

Make sure to check that the scale is correct for each drawing. The scale might be set automatically, but it still needs to be reviewed for every drawing. You can’t manually apply one scale to the whole set, as this could lead to inaccuracies.
