Compare Mode is a powerful feature to identify changes between different drawing versions or even between two drawings in completely different disciplines (e.g., an architectural floor plan vs an MEP plan).
Open the Primary Drawing: Navigate to your drawing list and open the first drawing you want to use in the comparison (e.g., the newer version, A-101 V2)
Activate the Compare Mode: On the top right of the Drawing Editor toolbar, click on the “Compare” tool
Select the Second Drawing: A dialog box will appear, prompting you to select the second drawing for the comparison
You can select a previous version of the same drawing (e.g., A-101 V1)
You can select any other drawing from the project
View the Overlay: Togal.AI will overlay the two drawings. The changes are highlighted visually:
Items from the first drawing are typically shown in red
Items from the second drawing are shown in blue
Items that are identical in both drawings will appear in gray because the red and blue lines are directly on top of each other
Adjust the Alignment: Sometimes, the two drawings may be at different scales or positioned in different locations. You can use the Align Image tool
on the left Control Menu to drag and adjust the alignment of the two drawings
This visual differentiation makes it incredibly easy to spot what has been added (in blue), what has been removed (in red), and what has remained the same (in black). You can perform takeoffs directly on this comparison view.
To exit the compare mode, simply click the “Compare” tool icon again or look for the “Remove Overlay” button on the right Quantities Panel
