How does the "can be alone" menu item option work?

Some merchants sell alcohol but the local government requires alcoholic beverages to be accompanied by a food purchase. The Can Be Alone setting is selected by default on all items. To set up the alcoholic beverages to require a food item to be ordered, click the button to remove the Can Be Alone.
