Previous Steps: How to create an invoice
You can remove a transaction from an invoice by using the "Return to WIP" feature (available on Enterprise, and by default only accessible by System Administrators but can be modified in the Security Matrix).
As long as you have at least 2 transactions on a stage, you can return one to WIP, releasing it back into the wild for invoicing at a later date.
This can be helpful if you've accidentally included a whole stage without checking transactions, or something has changed and you need to return a transaction back to WIP, you don't need to cancel the whole invoice - as long as you are able to leave at least one transaction on the stage you've invoiced.
There are two ways to return a transaction to WIP from an Invoice.
Via the Invoice > View transactions and,
Via Transactions > Filter down.
Return a Transaction to WIP via the Invoice
Open the Project and from the Project drop down menu click > Financials > Invoices.
Open the invoice that has transactions you need to return to WIP.
Click the ellipses and then "View transactions" - this is going to take you to the Transactions window, pre-filtered by Invoice number.
You can now tick each transaction you want to Return to WIP, then click the bulk action menu at the bottom of the page, and click "Return to WIP".
Confirm that you want to return the transactions to WIP by clicking "Confirm" in the pop up.
The Transactions page will refresh and update to show you only the remaining Transactions left on the invoice.
Note: You must leave at least one transaction on the stage you're returning WIP from. If you need to remove all transactions (or only have one transaction on that stage) you're going to need to cancel the invoice and start anew.
Return a Transaction to WIP via the Transactions screen
Open the Project and from the Project drop down menu click > Financials > Transactions.
Change the view to "Invoiced", and click the magnifying glass to put the Invoice number in, then click Search.
You can now tick each transaction you want to Return to WIP, then click the bulk action button menu at the bottom of the page, and click "Return to WIP".
