TotalCoaching already tracks quite a few data like calorie intake, distance, bodyweight and waistline. If you go to a client's profile and click on 'Graphs', you'll see the list of graphs that TotalCoaching provides.

If you're interested in tracking other data, like your client's bodyfat percentage, or hours of sleep, or anything else that you can measure, you can add it as a custom data. That means that you'll be able to track your client's progress on that data, exactly like the other data available!

So let's say you want to track your client's bodyfat percentage.

Create a Custom Data

  1. Click on the 'Settings' icon in the main menu

  2. You'll see an option called Custom data. Click on 'Manage custom data'

3. Create a new one by clicking on the big +.

4. Name it 'Bodyfat'

5. For the unit of that data, select 'Other' in the dropdown menu, then enter the '%' sign in the 'Custom unit' field.

6. You can add a description if you want to explain to your client how to enter that data

7. Leave the 'Allow member entry' box checked if you want to enable your clients to log that data. If you don't, simply uncheck it. The form should look like this:

8. Hit 'Save'

9. Refresh your page just to make sure your changes display correctly

Log New Data

Now if I go to my client's profile, and click on Graphs again, I will see that the data I just created has been added to the list of graphs.

Let's say you want to track your client's progress on bodyfat %. First you'll want to start logging that data.

  1. Go to your client's calendar

  2. Click on the '+' on the day you want to log that data

  3. Select 'Custom data'. The Custom data entry panel will open on the right

  4. Select which data you want to log and enter the number

  5. Hit Save

You'll now see the data entered in your client's calendar for that day! Because you allowed member entry, your client can do the exact same thing from his account.

Something else that you can do is assign a custom data to your client. Let's say you want him to log his bodyfat % on Monday next week: you'll follow the exact same process to add a custom data on Monday, but you'll simply leave the field empty, so your client can enter the number himself.

Note: You could very well assign that in a template as well.

Now that you've created a new custom data, TotalCoaching is going to track that data. But that's not all! You can also set a goal for your client based on that data!

Create a Goal on a Custom Data

  1. Go to your client's profile and click on Goals

  2. Click on the '+'

  3. On the right, select 'Custom Goal'

  4. Select the Custom data you want to set the goal for

  5. Enter the start number

  6. Enter the goal

  7. Enter the date you want that goal to be reached

  8. Hit Save

You can see now that a new goal has been created for that client based on that data. My client will obviously have access to that goal from his account so you can both track his progress!
