How does slomo function work?
Slomo function is one of the most used among 360 platform users. This option creates a seamless slomo effect during certain points of the video, give a great look to the final result.
This function records for an amount between one and twelve seconds. After the video is processed, the video length will be longer due to the slomo effect.
What settings to modify?
In order to meet the demand or a desired slow motion video final length, it is necessary to play around with some effects and configuration. Check the following list to understand which settings and how do they affect the final length:
Slomo recording time: It sets the amount of time, in seconds, the slomo effect will be recording for. If you set it to 5 seconds, for example, it will record for 5 seconds, but the final result will be longer due to the slow motion effect. From 1 to 12 seconds. Found on the event settings > video functions.
Slomo timing: This video effect defines when, and for how long, the slow motion effect will be applied. Found on the event settings > video effects.
Slomo boomerang: This switch enables or disables boomerang effect on Slomo function. Boomerang is an effect that reverses the original video, doubling the length of the original result. Found on the event settings > video functions.
Slomo speed: Use different amount of Frames Per Second. Attached to device and lens compatibility. Set 120 FPS for regular slow motion effect, or 240 FPS for slower effect. Higher frame rates make longer videos. Found on the event settings > Camera.
Keynotes
The shutter speed must match—at least—the recording FPS. For 120FPS, shutter speed should be at least 1/120, and so for 240FPS; 1/240. This setting can be changed in the event settings > camera settings > manual exposure. If the shutter speed is less, it causes issues with slow motion effect and length.
Export FPS should be set to 30FPS when using Slomo function.
Slomo requires a high-frame rate camera to record at least at 120 FPS, to produce a proper slow motion video.
