Connecting your GoPro

Step-by-step guide to connect your GoPro wired or wireless

The Touchpix app allows you to connect your GoPro in wired mode and wireless mode.

  • Wired connection supports GoPro 10, 11, 12, and 13 Black Series only.

  • GoPro Mission 1 and Mission 1 Pro for wireless and wired.

  • Connect wireless GoPro from 7 (8 preferred) to 13. The GoPro 8 and newer can connect to Touchpix using our GoPro integration. However, it is advised to use the official ‘GoPro Quik’ app to connect the GoPro 7.

Using a GoPro in wired mode is ideal since the file transfer speed is higher compared to the WiFi/Bluetooth connection. The wired connection does not require a WiFi connection, allowing you to upload files while using the GoPro in the recording device.

Wired vs. Wireless connection

Wired

Wireless

Requires quality adapters and data transfer cables

The connection is done via Wi-Fi, so it does not require adapters or cables

Since it does not block internet connection, media upload can still happen during the connection

Wi-Fi connection is blocked, hence, there will be no internet connection

Both device and camera must be mounted together in the arm

The camera can be mounted alone in the arm

Quicker, more reliable and stable connection

Crowded networks may interfere with the Wi-Fi connection

Wired requirements

The GoPro firmware version needs to be up-to-date or >= 1.30.00 (Hero 10), >= 1.12.00 (Hero 11) and >= 1.10.00 (Hero 12), at least.

We recommend getting a 'Lightning to USB Camera' adapter from Apple if you use an iPhone or an iPad with a lightning connection (do NOT use the powered lightning to USB camera adapter). We recommend using a USB-C to USB-A camera connector if you use an iPad Pro with a USB-C connection and an adapter (a USB-C to USB-C cable for a direct connection is also valid).

Steps

  1. Open Touchpix app on your device

  2. Open the side menu and locate ESSENTIALS settings group

  3. Tap on 'Camera' option

  4. Select 'GoPro' tab followed by pressing the 'Connect to GoPro' button

  5. This menu lists the GoPro's available within Bluetooth range. If you see no GoPro available, press the 'Refresh' button or check your Bluetooth connection

  6. Tap on the GoPro you wish to connect, connect the USB cable to the USB adapter, and connect the USB adapter to the device.

  7. Wait until the GoPro screen displays 'USB connected'

  8. Select 'Wired (GoPro 10, 11 & 12)' option and enjoy your wired GoPro connection!

Wireless steps

  1. Open Touchpix app on your device

  2. Open the side menu and locate ESSENTIALS settings group

  3. Tap on 'Camera' option

  4. Select 'GoPro' tab and press on 'Connect to GoPro'. A menu will show up

  5. Turn on the GoPro and tap refresh until your GoPro lists up

  6. Select your GoPro from the list and choose 'Wireless'

  7. If you have not paired your GoPro before, you'll be asked if you wish to pair the GoPro. Tap on 'Yes'. In case the automatic pairing does not work, activate the Quik app connection mode and try again

  8. Exit the settings screen

Keynotes

  • If you're using a GoPro 11/12, set it to 'Pro' mode (slide from top to bottom the GoPro screen, then from right to left and tap on 'Easy'. Switch it to 'Pro')

  • Make sure your GoPro 'anti-flicker' setting value is set to 60 Hz, otherwise, at 50 Hz the GoPro records up to 100 FPS only

  • If you are mirroring the screen before connecting the GoPro, turn it off. Trying to connect the GoPro while mirroring the screen returns an 'Unable to connect to GoPro' error

  • Do not lock the device, otherwise the wired connection will fail after a few minutes and reconnection will be needed.
