Why is it essential to check the internet speed?
Touchpix is a cloud-based app that does not necessarily require the internet to use the app at the event. In order to share the content directly using SMS, email, WhatsApp, or QR code, you will need to have an internet connection with a good upload speed. The reason behind it lies in one of the essential features of Touchpix, the web gallery.
Widely known, all the media will be uploaded to each event's web gallery, helping to keep a complete album for each event, and have an easy sharing. For these media to be shared, it needs to reach our messaging services, which is only possible once they're uploaded to the cloud. To achieve it, a strong internet connection is required.
How can I check my internet speed?
Touchpix has a built-in feature to check the internet speed at each moment within the app. Without the need of external providers, Touchpix provides a precise speed test that will help you understand the connection quality at each moment, and warn you if an error occurs with the network.
The steps to complete a test are very simple, and just require Touchpix app and the device you are running it on.
Within your Touchpix app, open the event settings
Scroll down in the menu, and find "Advanced Tools" section
Tap on 'Advanced Tools' and select 'Network Speed Test'
Wait until the results are over, and contrast them with the notes found below
There are some key points to understand about the network speed:
The speed test does not ensure that your files will be uploaded, neither it pushes the queue
Even though the device is connected to the network with full signal, it does not mean that the required speed is reached
Always rely on your own equipment, such as hotspots or routers, and avoid trusting other connections. Public networks or connections provided at venues are not the best choice, they are not usually the strongest, most stable or fastest connections
In order for the files to be uploaded, you require:
At least 15-20Mbps upload speed
The app must be open and the screen on, uploads will not happen in the background
Lastly, it is important to ensure that this network is stable, and does not keep disconnecting.
Is there any way to run an event without an internet connection?
