To add Constraints to a plan:

  1. Click the circle ticket on the bottom right of the plan view

  2. Enter a description, location, assign a priority and need by date for the Constraint

  3. Assign responsibility of the constraint by selecting another Touchplan user in the 'Assigned To' dropdown menu, then choose a Primary Role

  4. Click Save when done and drag the ticket on to the plan to schedule

Use the definitions below to effectively manage all aspects of constraints in Touchplan:

Constraint: A condition outside of the control of the project team that must be satisfied in order to complete scheduled tasks. Often they are a paper document (i.e. RFI, change order, material specification, etc.) that is needed to begin your task.

Constrained Tasks: Activities waiting for a Constraint to be cleared to be ready to start. Add a Predecessor Link between these activities to establish a visual link between.

Priority: An optional status (On Track, Needs Attention, or Critical) that can be used to identify the progress toward resolving a Constraint.

Date Identified: The date constraint was added to a plan.

Need By Date: The deadline for resolving a constraint.

Planned Date: The date where the constraint ticket is placed on the plan in Touchplan (the date that it is planned to be resolved).

Completed Date: The date the constraint was resolved.

Assigned To: The project member responsible for resolving the constraint.
