Gantt Chart Report

Run a Gantt Chart Report for the most holistic view of the entire plan or project

Written by Corrine Shuler

The Gantt Chart Report provides a holistic view of an entire project or plan. The report displays task duration, crew size, planned dates, actual finish dates, and specific roles across a selected time period. You can view the report by day, week, or quarter.

This report can be used to share look-aheads with your team, track committed and completed work, or review the schedule after a recent pull plan.

Running a Gantt Chart Report

  1. From the Plan View, click the Reports tab on the left side of the screen.

  2. Select Gantt Chart from the Report Type dropdown.

  3. Customize the report using the available filters.

  4. Select which Custom Field data you would like to display on the report.

  5. Click Run Report.

Once the report has finished generating, click View Report to view the Gantt Chart.

Best Practices: When running the Gantt Chart Report, we recommend selecting Time Scale = Day and Group By = Swimlane to organize the report in a way that closely resembles your planning space.

Layout Settings

  • Sort by = Date: Organizes the report chronologically, starting with the earliest date and progressing to later dates.

  • Sort by = Role: Groups activities together by their assigned role.

  • Group by = Swimlane or Location: Organizes the groups alphabetically.

Tip: If you would like your Swimlanes or Locations to appear in a specific order rather than alphabetically, add a numerical prefix such as 01., 02., 03., etc. to the names. This will keep them organized in your preferred order.

Understanding the Gantt Chart

The Gantt Chart displays both planned and actual task durations if the activity has been pinned in:

  • The gray line below a Gantt bar represents the planned duration of the task.

  • The colored Gantt bar represents the actual duration of the task as it was completed.

FAQs

How can I only show milestone tickets?

We recommend creating a dedicated role for Milestone activities, which will allow you to easily filter these tickets using the Role filter.

Can I adjust the columns that show in the report?

Yes! At the very bottom of the filter list, under the Layout section, you’ll see a Visible Columns filter. By default, if nothing is selected, all columns will appear in the report. You can use this filter to select which specific columns you’d like to display.

Why aren’t my completed tickets appearing in the report?

Make sure the Include Completed Tickets toggle is turned on under Filters for all completed tickets to appear in the report.
