As marketers, we know how valuable Tourial engagement data is when it's stitched together with contextual information about leads and prospects within your marketing automation platform (MAP).
π¨ IMPORTANT NOTE: A required step with the integration involves setting up a CNAME record in your DNS so that your demos can be white-labeled (ie. demos.yourcompany.com). This typically involves a developer, IT, or web admin, so we recommend putting in the ticket now. That way you can knock out the necessary steps synchronously and go live quicker. Here's a link to the information around DNS and CNAME setup.
Setup in the Tourial App
Setting up the HubSpot integration is a quick and easy process. The first steps will be completed in your Tourial app and the remainder involves configuration with your domain provider.
Step 1: Connect your HubSpot account to Tourial
From your integrations page, select Integrations in the left menu and then click Connect to begin the authentication process and connect your HubSpot account to Tourial.
Step 2: Turn on Engagement Activity
Once you've successfully connected your HubSpot account, you'll be redirected back to the Integrations page in the Tourial app.
Now, click Manage Integration >> Settings to get to the HubSpot settings page.
In the section labeled Engagement Activity, you'll see a dropdown menu to turn Engagement Activity on or off.
To ensure Tourial engagement data is captured and sent to HubSpot, select Engagement Activity ON.
Note: Turning this off will disable all Engagement Activities being captured and sent to HubSpot.
Step 3: Choose your subdomain and add it to Domain Setup in Tourial
π You must be an admin in your account to complete this step.
To use the Hubspot Integration, you'll need to serve your Tourials from your own domain rather than the Tourial domain.
First, you need to decide what you'd like your custom subdomain to be.
For example, tours.yourcompany.com or tourial.yourcompany.com
This subdomain can only be used for your Tourials and should not be used for anything else.
Note: Visitors will not interact with the subdomain itself; creating it simply allows you to serve the tour from your domain rather than Tourial's domain.
In the Tourial app, click on the user icon in the upper right-hand corner of your screen and head to Domain Setup.
Once there, you'll see a field where you can enter your subdomain; note that you do not need to include "https://" or "www"
Note: Your CNAME record will point to [youraccount].tourialdns.com
Setup with your Domain Provider (DNS)
Step 1: Configure CNAME Record
Once you've determined a subdomain, you'll need to log in to your domain provider and point a CNAME record for your chosen subdomain to [youraccountname].tourialdns.com.
For example, a CNAME record for the account, Acme (acme.com), where they've chosen the subdomain to be "tours" would be:
Subdomain: tours
CNAME: acme.tourialdns.com
Setting up a CNAME record works a little differently depending on your hosting provider (GoDaddy, HostGator, etc.). Below are guides for some common providers:
If you need assistance setting up a CNAME record and pointing it to Tourial, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager or email support@tourial.com.
Note: If you had a Tour(s) embedded anywhere prior to adding a subdomain and configuring your DNS see below.
The embed code changes once you've created a subdomain. So make sure you use the updated version wherever you have tours already embedded to ensure it properly loads from the new subdomain.
Key Elements of the HubSpot Integration
HubSpot Engagement Activity
This part of the integration pushes activity data from visitors' engagement with your Tourials into your HubSpot account.
π¨ IMPORTANT NOTE: To ensure you're seeing Engagement Activity on a contact record, head to the Filter activity section on a contact record and select Tourial under Integrations:
Once data funnels into HubSpot, it'll be tied to a contact record if that contact is already known and exists within HubSpot.
Engagement Data also works for anonymous visitors or people who are not yet contacts in your HubSpot account. Once that visitor converts β either by submitting a form, clicking a tagged email, etc. β their historical Tourial engagement data is retroactively pulled into HubSpot (assuming those HubSpot cookies have remained and that visitor did not clear their cookies).
π¨ IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure you have your HubSpot tracking script added to your website so that visitor tour engagement can be linked to any website forms outside your tour.
