Setting up the Integration in Tagmarshal
Note: While we strive for accuracy, ongoing updates to the Tagmarshal system may occasionally affect the relevance or precision of the information provided here.
Once your event or league is set up, link it in your Tagmarshal account to activate the integration. Click on Golf Genius in your Tagmarshal dashboard to view a list of your upcoming tournaments that are uploaded or recorded in Golf Genius. You will see the following details; the tournament name, date of the event, season, category example mixed, ladies, senior event and tee sheet type.
The Tagmarshal user can select from three options for each tournament tee sheet - the options displayed in the Tee sheet dropdown will depend on whether or not you have a tee sheet integration with a third party tee sheet provider:
With a tee sheet provider integration:
Both: This will display the Golf Genius & standard tee times in your tee sheet/ booking provider system
Golf Genius only: This will display the Golf Genius tee times only
TeeSheet Provider Only: This will display the actual name and tee times of your tee sheet/booking provider system
Without a tee sheet provider integration:
Both: This will display the Golf Genius & standard tee times in your Tagmarshal tee sheet
Golf Genius only: This will display the Golf Genius tee times only
Tagmarshal Only: This will display the tee times in your Tagmarshal tee sheet
Note: Standard tee times refer to the tee times set up for your course. This could be the CVS upload, manually entered tee times or the third party provider (if a course has a tee sheet integration set up).
On the day of the tournament, the tournament tee times will display on the Tagmarshal tee sheet, depending on your tee sheet setup.
Manage your upcoming Golf Genius Tournaments in your Tagmarshal dashboard
Select Golf Genius from the Tagmarshal menu
Select Events
View all the upcoming events
Select what information you wish to see on your tee sheet, namely, Golf Genius or Standard Tee times
Set up a Golf Genius Tournament in Tagmarshal dashboard
Ensure your tee sheet includes the Golf Genius tee times.
The user will be able to view the source of their tee sheet at the top right of the screen namely both, Golf Genius or Standard Tee times.
Once you have checked that you are displaying the correct tee sheet, you need to assign tags or carts. It is important to ensure that tags or carts are assigned to each group or player participating in the tournament.
Without assigning tags to the groups participating in the tournament, the system will not be able to associate the group playing with the group setup in Golf Genius. This will mean the live scoring will not be enabled for the group and no scores will be recorded in the Golf Genius system.
When the tournament begins as the first groups tee off, the Tagmarshal system will recognise this particular tournament round as live. It will check if the allotted tee time is linked to a Golf Genius tournament and download the player’s information needed for the live scoring.
So how do players enter their scores and view the live leaderboard?
Players participating in a Golf Genius Tournament can enter their scores on the Tagmarshal 2Way device.
Players will either select the Score button on the device map or navigate to the Live Scoring menu item.
Players sharing a tee time will see their names loaded into the live scoring feature. They can scroll between the holes relevant to the tournament to find the one they are currently on.
Players must enter their scores for each hole as they move through the round by doing the following:
Navigate to the live scoring feature
Scroll to the correct hole, using the forward or back arrows at the top of the screen
Select the player for whom you wish to enter a score
Use the scoring keyboard to enter the correct score
Select ‘Save Scores’
Select the next player if relevant and repeat steps 4 to 5.
To return to play, select the back to map button, this will return you to the course map.
Complete Round Scoring
When players select ‘Save’ on the final hole of their round, they will be asked if they wish to complete their live scoring for the tournament.
If they wish to continue scoring, they will select NO
Alternatively, they select YES to finish the scoring.
Once done and the scorecard is submitted, scores will no longer be editable through the Tagmarshal device.
Missing Scores
If there are any scores which have not been entered, an alert will display and prompt the player to enter scores. The player will be allowed to return to live scoring to update the relevant scores.
To view the live leaderboard on Tagmarshal GPS
To navigate to the Live Leaderboard, the player clicks on the menu in the top right of the 2Way device.
They will then select Live Leaderboard from the menu options and can view the live leaderboard throughout the tournament.
To navigate back to the map, they must select Back to map on the bottom right corner of the screen.
How to manage your tournament should you experience Loss of Signal
During Scoring
As players record their scores in the Golf Genius scoreboard, it automatically updates the leaderboard. However, should the 2Way device lose signal during the tournament, the scores will be saved on the device until the device has signal again.
Players will be notified of any signal loss during the round and informed that scores will be saved later.
Once the signal is recovered and the device connects, it will automatically update Golf Genius with the latest scores entered.
Show scores successfully saved to Golf Genius
End of Round
Should the device not receive a signal and be unable to reconnect by the end of the round, the final scores will not update immediately in Golf Genius. However, the device will continue to try to send the scores to Golf Genius until it finds a signal and can reconnect.
Due to tournament management needs, the scores may need to be captured sooner. There are two ways to manage this once the round closes:
Players drive the cart to a location known to have signal for the device to upload their final scores.
The course staff have to manually upload the scores through the Golf Genius platform. We advise that players take a screenshot of their final scores to better assist your staff with uploading scores.
If the 2Way devices connect after scores are submitted manually and the tournament scoring is closed on Golf Genius, no further updates or changes will be made.
Live Leaderboard
Should the device lose signal, it will not be able to connect to Golf Genius and update the live leaderboard.
When this happens a ‘no connect icon’ will be displayed on the screen, with a timestamp of when the device last connected.
This is also the last time the leaderboard was updated. When the device reconnects, the leaderboard will automatically update.
