Creating AB Pairings

Updated over 4 months ago

You can create AB pairings with twosomes (AB), foursomes (ABAB), and sixsomes (ABABAB) using our Automatic Scheduler when creating pairings for a round.

To do this, go to Rounds > Create New Pairings. Select the option for Automatic Scheduling in Step 1. In Step 2 and Further Schedule By tab, select "AB" (as shown below).

Some or all of the following options will be available depending on whether you are creating twosomes, foursomes, or sixsomes (This is determined by what is selected in Rounds > Round Profile > Scheduling Settings).

  • Optimize for most diversity based on previous round pairings: When creating the pairings, look at pairings from previous round(s) in the event or league, and minimize the chance of players playing with the same players again.

  • Optimize for most diversity based on previous round pairings and balance total indexes in each tee time: When creating the pairings, look at pairings from previous round(s) in the event or league, and minimize the chance of players playing with the same players again. Furthermore, also make sure the total of all indexes in each pairing group are balanced and equal as possible.

  • Place A's High to Low, B's from high to low, and continue alternating: An example of this method is shown below:

  • Random: Create absolutely random pairings by AB. Do not look at previous rounds to balance the scheduling. Simply identify players as A or B players and organize as such.

After deciding on the AB option, click "Save", "Continue"

The AB pairings will be created. Click on "Additional Information" and select "Handicap" to view the indexes next to the players names.

You can also go to Rounds > Round Player Roster > and sort the players by index. By doing this, we will place the players in their AB "buckets" for easy viewing.
