How do I set up a 36-hole match?

Updated over 4 months ago

Q: How can I set up a 36-hole match?

A: There are three scenarios, all with different instructions to accomplish this:

  • 36-hole finals match in a Bracket Tournament

  • 36-hole match Non-Bracket Tournament (using the same 18-hole course)

  • 36-hole match Non-Bracket Tournament (using two 18-hole courses)

36-Hole finals match in a Bracket Tournament:

  1. Go to Event/League > Bracket Tournaments > Edit Tournament

  2. Select the option to make the final match 36 holes (as shown below).

36-Hole match Non-Bracket Tournament (using the same 18-hole course):

If the 36-hole match is played over an 18-hole course twice, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to Rounds > Tournaments > New Tournament.

  2. Create the tournament and make sure to select "36-holes (continuous) under the "Holes" dropdown (as shown below).

When printing scorecards for a 36-hole match, there will be two scorecards printed for every match.

If you look above, this foursome is playing a 36-hole match, so they need two scorecards. Notice the bottom scorecard starts on hole #19.

If the mobile app is used to enter scores, this method will also only require one GGID to enter scores for all 36 holes.

36-Hole match Non-Bracket Tournament (using two 18-hole courses):

If the 36-hole match is played on two different 18-hole courses, follow these instructions:

  1. Create two separate rounds.

  2. Create pairings for round 1. If setting up a singles match, create one pairing group with the two players in positions 1 and 2 in the pairing group. If setting up a team match, organize the first team in positions 1 and 2 and the second team in positions 3 and 4.

  3. Go to Rounds > Edit Pairings to set the course/tee for round 1. Set the players on the first 18-hole course in the first round.

  4. Go to Rounds > Tournaments > Add New Tournament to set up a match-play tournament. If setting up a singles match, select Player v. Player (1v2 & 3v4). If setting up a team match, select Pair v. Pair (1&2 v 3&4). Save the pairings.

  5. Repeat steps 2,3, and 4 for Round 2.

  6. Go to Rounds > Multi-Round Tournaments > Add Linked Tournament. Select the two match play tournaments from each round. Go to the "Advanced Settings" tab and select the 36-hole match option. (as shown below).

    Save the linked tournament.

Enter scores for the first 18 holes by going to Round 1 > Enter Scores. Enter scores for the second 18 holes by going to Round 2 > Enter Scores.
