How can I limit points earned in a match?

This feature is available for the following products:

Q: Our Member-Guest consists of five 9-hole matches where teams can earn a point per hole plus a point for winning the match. However, we'd like to cap the number of points that can be earned to a maximum of 6 for each match. Can this be set up?

A: Yes, when setting up a multi-round Match Play tournament, there is an option below the payout to set up point limits (as shown below).

The setup above awards one point per hole and one point for winning the match, with a maximum of 5 "per hole" points allowed. So, if a team wins all 9 holes, they will earn 6 total points (one for the winning the match and 5 "per hole" points).

You can also apply the limit to only certain rounds if this is a multi-round tournament. For instance, sometimes the point limit is applied for the first 4 matches, but the final match does not have a point limit.

There is also an option to adjust the points upwards for the match losers if the point limit is reached. For example, if the one side wins 8 holes and the other side only wins one, and the "per hole" point limit is set to 5 points, the side winning the match will get 5 points and the side losing the match will be adjusted up to 4 points. If this box is not checked, the winner will be limited to 5 "per hole" points, but the loser will receive just 1 "per hole" point.
