Most Improved Player Report Page

Updated over 4 months ago

This feature is available for the following products

This portal page is typically only used for leagues. This page computes the most improved player in the league by using the USGA's recommended formula for calculating the most improved player. The formula works as follows:

  1. Add 12 (add 6 if using 9-Hole Handicap Indexes) to the player's Handicap Index at the start of the season. This is value A.

  2. Add 12 (add 6 if using 9 hole indexes) to the player's Handicap Index at the end of the season. This is value B.

  3. Divide value A by value B, calculating to three decimal places. This is the improvement factor. The player with the highest improvement factor should receive the most improved player award.

In the example shown below after selecting the Most Improved Player Widget, you can select the starting round and ending round to compute the results.

If your league uses 9 and 18-Hole Handicap Indexes, then you can select which Handicap Indexes you'd like to look at.

There is also a "Lowest Handicap Index" Histogram. This will give you an idea of when your players were playing their best during the season.
