Lottery Entry Guide for Member/Guest Events
For popular golf events like Member/Guest, where demand often exceeds available slots, a lottery system based on prior participation offers a fair and transparent method for managing registration. This approach typically prioritizes golfers based on their involvement in designated past events (e.g., the previous two Member/Guest tournaments). Traditionally, tracking this participation and assigning priority has involved significant manual effort for event managers.
Our Tournament Management software streamlines this process with its Lottery Management feature. This functionality allows you to easily define a multi-event series by selecting past events to determine priority. To illustrate this, consider the following common Member/Guest scenarios:
Example 1: When you want to give priority to members who did not participate in the last two years' Member/Guest events, the multi-event series would have three entries: the two past Member/Guest events and the upcoming one.
Example 2: If your club hosts a spring and fall Member/Guest event, this list could have four entries: two from last year's events and two for the upcoming spring and fall events. For the spring event, priority will be based on the number of times a golfer participated in last year's Member/Guest events, while the fall Member/Guest priority will be based on play last year, as well as participation in the spring Member/Guest.
While managing a lottery involves several steps, the core process within our Tournament Management software is designed to be straightforward and intuitive. This guide will walk you through the fundamentals of setting up and running a lottery for a Member/Guest event, using the scenario described in Example 1 (prioritizing based on non-participation in the last two years' events) as our primary illustration.
