Why aren't my risk management parameters being enforced?

Risk parameters that show a DISABLED badge have values configured but are not active. Both the value and the enable toggle must be set for a parameter to trigger.

If your risk management parameters are not triggering, check the Risk Management panel for any parameters showing a DISABLED badge. A disabled parameter has a value configured but is not being enforced — it will never trigger regardless of market conditions. Both the value and the enable toggle are required for a parameter to be active.

You might be experiencing this if:

  • Risk management parameters are visible in the panel but have no effect

  • Your limits are configured but show as DISABLED

  • You entered a value for a daily loss limit or profit target but it never activates

Why this happens

The Risk Management panel has two independent steps for each parameter: setting the value and enabling it. These are separate actions. Completing only the first step — entering a value — leaves the parameter in a configured but inactive state.

This most commonly occurs in three situations:

First-time setup — you went through the configuration process and entered values for your parameters, but did not realise there is a separate enable step. The parameters exist in your settings but have never been active.

Parameter modification — you changed a value for an existing parameter and the toggle was left off or reset during the edit. The new value is saved but not enforced.

Locked before enabling — you activated a Hard Lock or configuration lock on the account before enabling the parameters. While the lock is active, you cannot edit or enable parameters — the lock prevents any changes. The parameters will remain disabled until the lock expires.

If you are in a locked state and your parameters were not enabled before locking, you will need to wait for the lock to expire before you can enable them. Enable the parameters before activating any future locks.

How to fix this

  1. Open the Risk Management panel in Tradecopia and check each parameter row for the affected account

  2. Identify any parameters showing a DISABLED badge — these are configured but not active

  3. Toggle each parameter you want enforced to enabled — the DISABLED badge should disappear

  4. If your account is on Tradovate: push your settings after enabling — Tradovate's engine will not receive the update until you push. See Why aren't my Tradovate risk settings taking effect? if the push step is unclear

Once enabled, the parameters will begin enforcing immediately on the next qualifying event.
