What is a spread?

Updated over 2 months ago

The spread is the difference between the bid price (sell) and the ask price (buy) of a trading instrument. When you open a trade, you immediately start slightly in the negative because you are paying this cost.

Example: If EUR/USD is quoted at 1.1000 / 1.1002, the spread is 2 pips.
