If your broker isn’t directly supported by TradeZella, you can still upload your trades using the Generic CSV method. This guide will walk you through downloading the Generic CSV template, filling it out correctly, and uploading it to TradeZella.

Steps to Upload Trades via the Generic CSV Method →

Accessing the File Upload Page and Downloading the Generic Template

  • Click on the “Add Trade” button on the left side panel.

  • Navigate to the “File Upload” page.

  • In the broker selection window, select GENERIC as the broker.

  • Download the linked GENERIC TEMPLATE. Refer to the screenshot below for reference.

Filling Out the Generic Template

  • Open the downloaded template file. You will see the headers with a few example executions.

  • For each trade execution you want to upload, add a new row underneath the headers.

You must enter each execution individually, including both buy and sell orders, to ensure accurate trade records.

Follow this format when entering your trade details:

Date:

  • Use the format mm/dd/yy.

  • Example: 5/15/21 or 6/16/22

Time:

  • Use the 24-hour format.

  • Example: 13:44:31 or 22:10:30

Symbol:

  • Enter the symbol of the asset.

  • Example: ES, NQ, AAPL

Buy/Sell:

  • Indicate whether the execution was a BUY or SELL.

Quantity:

  • Enter the number of futures contracts bought or sold.

Price:

  • Input the execution price.

Spread:

  • For stocks, enter 'Stock'.

  • For options, enter 'Single'.

  • For futures, enter 'Futures'.

  • For Forex, enter Forex'.

  • For Crypto, enter 'Crypto'.

Expiration:

  • Enter the contract expiration date in this format: 6 AUG 21. For futures contracts, you can also use a format like JUN 21 without the day.

Strike:

  • Leave blank unless it’s an options trade, in which case enter the strike price.

Call/Put:

  • Ignore this field unless you’re inputting an options trade.

Commission:

  • Enter any commissions associated with the trade (optional).

Fees:

  • Enter any additional fees associated with the trade (optional).

Saving and Uploading Your File

  • Once all trade executions are entered, save the file in CSV format. Ensure the format is correct and that all fields are filled out as required.

  • Return to TradeZella and upload your completed CSV file. Make sure to review the data before finalizing the upload.

Example: Manually Filling Out the CSV Template

Suppose you’re entering a trade for a Micro E-mini Nasdaq-100 Index (MNQ). Here’s how you would fill out the CSV template:

Example Trade Data

Data Filled in the Generic Template

In the example data provided in the CSV file, you can see how one trade was mentioned in a single line. However, when adding it to the Generic file, it is split into two lines to represent each execution (buy and sell) separately.

Important Notes

  • Correct Format: Ensure your file is saved in the correct CSV format to avoid upload issues.

  • Correct Order: Enter your data in the correct order as outlined to ensure accurate processing.

  • Each Execution: You must enter each execution individually, including both buy and sell orders, to ensure accurate trade records.

By following these steps, you can easily upload your trades using the Generic CSV method in TradeZella. 🤗
