If you’re noticing P&L discrepancies after syncing or file-uploading your Tradovate trades into TradeZella — don’t worry, this is a common issue.
The difference usually comes down to commissions and fees not being included in the data Tradovate provides.
Watch this quick video walkthrough for clarity:

Why It Happens
Tradovate currently:
Does not include commission or fee data in exported CSV files.
Shares only same-day commission and fee data when syncing via API.
This means:
File uploads show your Gross P&L (before commissions/fees).
Sync imports show accurate commissions/fees only for same-day trades, not for older data.
How to Confirm the Issue
To verify that commissions and fees are causing the difference:
Go to Reports → Filter by Gross P&L.
Match it with your Tradovate Gross P&L for the same date range.
If both match, the difference is caused by missing commissions and fees.
How to Fix P&L Discrepancies
Once you’ve confirmed that the issue is caused by missing commissions and fees, follow the method that applies to you:
If you’re unsure about your commission or fee structure, reach out to Tradovate Support or contact our team — we’ll be happy to help you configure these rules correctly.
If You’re Using the Sync Method
TradeZella automatically imports commission and fee data for same-day trades.
However, historical trades (from previous days) do not include this data, which can make your Net P&L appear higher than expected.
To fix this:
Set up commission and fee rules for your Tradovate account.
Apply them to your existing trades to adjust P&L accurately.
Once verified, delete the temporary commission rule to prevent double-counting in future imports.
If You’re Using the File Upload Method
To fix this: simply Set up default commission and fee rules for your account and apply it your trades:
Or, if you prefer, you can manually edit each trade and add commission and fee values individually: 👉 How to manually add commissions and fees in TradeZella.
