How to Claim Trail’s End Rewards™

Updated today

Overview: Claiming vs. Redeeming Rewards

Claiming your Trail’s End Rewards™ is the step that officially releases your earned rewards from Trail’s End. Redeeming is the separate step where you choose and receive your actual gift card through our rewards partner, Tango.

  • Claiming happens in the Trail’s End App or Trail’s End website

  • Redeeming happens later through a link emailed to you

Note: Before a Scout can claim rewards, the Unit Leader must submit and release rewards in the Trail’s End Leader Portal.

How a Scout Claims Trail's End Rewards™ in the App

Don't see your Reward?

If you believe you should have a reward but don’t see it, there are a couple of common reasons:

Early in the season
Your Unit Leader may not have submitted rewards yet. Rewards are submitted by the Unit Leader, so we recommend checking with your leader to confirm when submissions will be made.

Later in the season
If rewards have already been submitted, it’s likely the reward has already been claimed in our system. In this case, please see How to Find a Previously Claimed Gift Card.

Deadline to Claim Trail's End Rewards™

Rewards must be claimed by June 30 following the year the sales were made.

Examples:

  • Rewards from the 2025 sale must be claimed by June 30, 2026

  • Rewards from the 2026 sale must be claimed by June 30, 2027

Unclaimed rewards expire after this deadline and cannot be recovered.

What Happens After You Claim

Tax Reporting Requirements (SSN, W-9, and 1099-MISC)

Federal regulations require Trail’s End to issue a 1099-MISC to anyone who receives more than $600 in gift cards within a calendar year.

If applicable:

  • You will be prompted to enter a W-9 before claiming rewards

  • Enter the Scout’s name and Social Security Number, not the parent’s

  • Only one of SSN or EIN is required (most Scouts will use SSN)

Note: The $600 threshold is based on the calendar year, not the sales year. Claiming rewards from a prior sale year in the current calendar year may impact whether a W-9 is required.

Full instructions can be found on the IRS W-9 form. Please consult a tax professional for additional guidance.

How to Locate or Request a Resend of Your 1099-MISC Tax Form

If you are expecting a 1099-MISC tax form and have not received it, follow these steps to locate the email or request a resend.

Confirm you should be receiving one for the current year

Note that the 1099-MISC is issued in the year that you claimed the rewards. If you claimed 2025 rewards in January 2026, you will receive a 1099-MISC for 2026.

Steps to Locate the 1099-MISC Email

  • Check Your Inbox: Search your email inbox for messages from the sender no-reply@track1099.com. This is the email address used to deliver 1099-MISC forms.

  • Check Your Spam Folder: If you do not see the email in your inbox, check your spam or junk folder.

Actions to Take if the Email is Not Found

If you cannot locate the email after searching your inbox and spam folder please contact support at support@trails-end.com.
