Carriers' Options for Tracking

Carriers can provide live tracking updates with P44 or provide manual updates as well

With the Transfix Shipper App, carriers have three options for tracking. You must choose one of these options to keep your customer informed of the status of your shipments.

If you choose a live tracking option, while you are setting this up, please utilize the manual option to keep your shipments up to date:

  • Setup time 10 minutes.

  • Best option for carriers who own their own assets.

  • Setup: Create an account with project44 and add your ELD (see below for details).

  • Already have an account with P44 and an ELD connection? Please contact us at shipper-support@transfix.io. We can send you the invitation code to connect! Once you've connected with Transfix, please make sure you add a truck number on every load.

  • Average setup time is 2 weeks.

  • Best option for carriers who do not own their assets ie: brokers.

  • Setup: Create an account with project44 and set up an API connection between your in-house tracking system and project44 (see below for details).

Tracking via P44 with ELD:

1. Carriers can create a new account here: https://na12.voc.project44.com/portal/v2/public/connect/transfix

2. You will be prompted to enter your information (email, name, etc).

3. Then, search for your ELD, enter your ELD credentials and you are connected!

4. Any assets associated with your ELD will show up on your P44 account dashboard.

5. Once set up, the only other action you need to take is to enter the truck number that will be hauling the shipment when you accept a tender. You can do this right from the shipment confirmation email you receive:

6. One more thing to watch! Please make sure your "Pickup Arrival Status" and "Delivery Arrival Status" are filled out. This should be happening automatically with your ELD live tracking, however if there is a gap in tracking, sometimes these will not register, and they're important because they directly affect your OTP/OTD percentages.

To check them or fill them out manually:

  • From the same page where you update your tracking info, scroll down on the right side to the "Update Pickup Arrival Status" and "Update Delivery Arrival Status" buttons

  • Enter your check-in/check out times and hit "submit"

Now you're all set!

Tracking via project44 with API

Project44 will set up a connection to receive tracking updates from your internal tracking system. You can push latitude and longitude data to project44 via API, EDI 214 or CSV. There is no cost for the setup/ integration.

  1. Create an account on project44’s website: https://na12.voc.project44.com/portal/v2/public/connect/transfix.

  2. Create a ticket with project44's API team to let them know you want to set up an API connection. See here for instructions on creating an integration request ticket.

    1. This is usually a simple integration, but can be more time consuming depending on your carrier’s setup.

    2. Project44 will take on the bulk of the integration work.

  3. IMPORTANT: Please cc shipper-support@transfix.io so that we can stay up to date on the progress or let us know once your setup is done. We need to initialize the request for tracking on our side as well.

  4. Once you are connected to P44 via API, each shipment will automatically initialize tracking 2 hours before pickup. You do not need to take any additional steps to track.

  5. One thing to watch out for! Please make sure your "Pickup Arrival Status" and "Delivery Arrival Status" are filled out.     • When you accept a shipment, you will be taken to the shipment details page. On this page, scroll down on the right side to the "Update Pickup Arrival Status" and "Update Delivery Arrival Status" buttons

    • Enter your check-in/check out times and hit "submit"


  6. Now you're all set!

Manual Tracking:

If you cannot connect to project44, you also have the option to provide manual tracking updates on loads.

1. When you accept a shipment tender, you will receive an email confirmation. From this email, click on “Submit Tracking Update” or “View Details”

2. From the shipment page, click on “Update Tracking Info” (blue button, right side of the page)

3. Update you tracking status and your ETA and hit “submit”

4. One more step!

Once you've arrived at your pickup or delivery destination, please input this information. These fields directly effect your OTP/OTD percentages.

  • On the right side of the shipment details page, scroll down to the "Update Pickup Arrival Status" and "Update Delivery Arrival Status" buttons

  • Enter your check-in/check out times and hit "submit"

5. You will also receive daily reminders to update your tracking information while the shipment is active.
