Detention Policy & FAQ
Detention pay begins two hours after the scheduled appointment time or at the time of arrival for "First Come First Serve" (FCFS) facilities. Arrival time must be during the operating hours for the FCFS facilities.
Payment of detention will begin after 30 minutes is incurred and thereafter paid in 15 minute increments.
Eligibility
The detention request MUST be submitted within 24 hours of delivery or it will be declined
Carrier checked-in to facility on time
Carrier arrived with the correct equipment
For refrigerated loads, trailer is pre-cooled to temperature per rate-con
Detention begins 2 hours after the appointment time, with a max of 5 hours
Carrier notified Transfix 30 minutes prior to entering detention via web, email, or approved tracking enabled method.
Check-in and check-out times from facility where detention is being requested are visible on the POD uploaded
Signature from delivery are visible on the POD uploaded

Rate: $50/hour for carriers who communicate they are entering detention 30mins prior to hitting the 2hr mark at the facility either by contacting Transfix via phone, email, SMS, or tracking with GPS integration
Rate: $40/hour for carriers who do not notify Transfix 30mins prior to hitting the 2hr mark at the facility. The carrier must meet all other criteria for qualifications.
