Manual File Attachment for eCMR

Digital transport documents rarely exist in isolation. In real-life logistics operations, shipments are often accompanied by additional paperwork β€” certificates, instructions, proofs, delivery notes or regulatory documents.

The Attachments feature in eCMR allows users to digitally connect these supporting documents directly to the transport document, ensuring everything travels together β€” digitally.

Our eCMR users will be able to attach all relevant documents to the eCMR.

πŸš› Why Attachments Are Important in eCMR

In the logistics industry, many processes still depend on supporting documents beyond the CMR itself.

By attaching files directly to the eCMR, users can:

  • Centralize all shipment-related documentation in one place

  • Avoid separate email exchanges or paper handling

  • Improve transparency between shipper and carrier

  • Reduce disputes caused by missing documentation

  • Support compliance and audit requirements

  • Enable smoother handovers during loading and unloading

Instead of managing documents across different systems, inboxes, or printed copies, everything becomes part of the digital shipment record.

πŸ“‚ Typical Use Cases in Logistics

Attachments can be used for many industry scenarios, including:

πŸ“¦ FMCG / Retail

  • Packing lists

  • Commercial invoices

  • Quality control documents

  • Delivery instructions

πŸ§ͺ Chemical Industry

  • Cleaning certificates

  • Tank wash confirmations (PPLs)

  • Safety data sheets (SDS)

  • Regulatory compliance documents

πŸ— Construction & Industrial Goods

  • Product specification sheets

  • Batch documentation

  • Installation instructions

  • Proof of origin

🌍 International or Regulated Transport

  • Customs-related documents

  • Export declarations

  • Dangerous goods documentation (if applicable separately)

  • Insurance documents

This flexibility allows the eCMR to become a single digital container for shipment documentation, not just a transport contract.

How it works?

The attachment option is available under Shipment Information Tile within Field 9. This feature is automatically there for all users. There is no setting key activation required.

The upload of a document is possible only from desktop for the shipper or the document owner and only in status β€˜new’ of the document.

Key functionality:

  • Supported file types: PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF

  • File size limits: PDF, DOC, DOCX up to 10 MB; JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF up to 5 MB

  • Maximum 7 files per upload

  • Users can delete uploaded files

  • All attachments are stored in our attachment service
