You can add your masterdata by opening a masterdata table and selecting "New". The first items of masterdata that need to be added are:

  • Customers

  • Carriers

  • Service levels

If you cannot find a relevant masterdata table, you can add it in the Admin section called "Masterdata Roles".

The masterdata upload allows you to batch upload with an Excel file. Always download the most recent template by using the Download Template button

Finding the Excel file

1) Go to the masterdata section and select "upload excel"

2) Here you will find a Download Template button in the top right corner

3) The file should now be downloaded and you can start entering data

When Copy/pasting, you need to PASTE VALUES! If you do not paste the Values, the upload will not work. It is important the cell format remains as is, otherwise the file will not be accepted when you try to upload the data.

Uploading the file

Once done, you can upload the Excel file to control tower by using the insert function in the upload Excel masterdata table.

The file will have the status "Processing" until all the lines have been processed by the system. When all data has been processed, the file will move to status Done.

Checking Errors

When Errors occur during the upload, the system will make a log of which lines in the file failed and why.

You can find this by right-clicking the recently uploaded file and selecting "download feedback file". The feedback file will provide an explanation for every line that failed.

If the file gets status Error Exec, then this means the MD upload file was corrupted or out of date ( there is a new MD upload file after every major version release ). If you are using an old file, you can download the new file in the download template section.

If you are using a new file, then this means that somewhere the file's formatting has been overwritten. Either the data has moved outside of the yellow background format or somewhere values were just pasted and not pasted as values.
