How can I update milestones?

What are milestones? How do I update them and what do the milestones statuses mean?

Milestones are displayed in the schedule view:

  • in the slot

  • in the flyover

5 milestones

Time Slot Booking uses 5 different milestones. Each milestone has it's own meaning and visualization.

  1. Arrival milestone
The moment that the driver arrives at the location.
The ETA of the driver can be displayed on this milestone when he did not arrive yet. This ETA can be registered by the carrier or by an admin user.

  2. Check-in milestone
The moment that the driver is registered at the gate. The driver is ready to go to his section (or dock).

  3. Start Activity milestone
The moment that operators start (un)loading the truck.

  4. End Activity milestone
The moment that (un)loading the truck is finished.
The driver can go back to the gate.

  5. Departure milestone
The driver passed through the gate, did his check-out and left the location or yard.

Other timing settings

Arrival margin
The time that the driver needs to be at the location before his slot starts.

Slot duration
The time between check-in and departure milestone.
This is the time that the driver is on location or on the yard.

Handling time
Duration of the activity or time between the start and the end of the activity.

Bookable from

Start of the booking period expressed in the number of days before the start of the slot.

Bookable until

End of the booking period expressed in the number of days before the start of the slot.
Note: the number for Bookable from needs to be bigger than Bookable until.

Updating milestones

Milestones can be updated in the flyover of a slot. Each milestone has:

  • A scheduled time: The moment that the milestone is planned to happen, based on the settings and templates.

  • An actual time: The moment that it actually happened, manually registered by a user.

The "ontime margin" setting off a facility or a section provides the opportunity to specify whether or not a milestone will be considered early, ontime or late.

When milestones are updated early or late, the system will ask for a reason, if specified so in the settings. Reason codes can be managed in the settings as well.

Note: When entering an actual time on a given milestone, the actual time can't be before the actual time entered on the previous milestone or after the actual time entered on the next milestone

Milestone statuses

Milestones can have several statuses, based on the actual and the "ontime margin" setting of the facility/section. Every milestone has its own color.
