How can I use the cost object?

This feature aims to allow users to configure Cost Objects (Cost Center, Internal Order, WBS). Cost objects are used in billing and finance reporting to indicate the correct party to allocate the cost.

Cost objects can be created in the masterdata section. If you cannot see the table, you can add it to your masterdata role.

Once created, users can select the cost objects on individual cost line items in the order form and charges grid.

The selected cost objects can be used in reporting, emails and shown in control tower on the cost line item.

Making cost objects mandatory

You can make the adding of a cost object mandatory on charges by going to the order form settings and adjusting the value:

  • Required: Cost object always needs to be filled in when adding a cost

  • Required on confirm: Costs can be added without a cost object if they go to status "pending approval". The user approving the cost is then obligated to add a cost object.
