The Rate Explorer provides the opportunity to find rates based on pre-defined data points. The rate explorer can be found in 3 places:

  1. Cost management section

  2. Transport Order grid

  3. Transport Order form

Once you open the window you will see 2 sections:

  1. Search Criteria: Define the order data used for rate calculation

This section has 5 main subsections, with the following required fields:

  • Filters

    • Billing Date

    • Billing Date Time

    • Division

    • Rate Zone Category

  • Origin

    • At least 1 of the Origin location fields is required

  • Destination

    • At least 1 of the Destination location fields is required

Optional fields to have a more accurate result are typically:

  • Order characteristics

    • For example:

      • If you are having a Rate per Distance you would need to add the Distance

  • Shipping units

    • For example:

      • If you are looking to find a Rate per Container, please add at least one Container

The more data you fill in this section, the more specific will be the results of the rate explorer.

If your expected rate is not being shown in the Results section, please try to fill in at least 1 of the Order Characteristics or Shipping Units fields.

2. Results: Which rates/surcharges can be applied?

  • Freight

  • Fuel

  • Insurance

  • Surcharge

Applying the cheapest carrier

On the transport order form, you can now open the rate explorer to find out which carrier is the cheapest for this particular route. If you open an incomplete order ( so an order without a carrier ), you can click the rate explorer and search for the cheapest one:

Click on the rate card most suitable to your needs and the "select carrier" button will appear. The system will now apply the carrier to the order and add the correct rate.
